Vis for your wedding
Vis is the most remote of the main Dalmatian islands — closed to foreigners until 1989, which is why it stayed quiet. Two and a half hours by ferry from Split, no direct flights, no big resorts. For couples who pick Vis, that's the whole point — extraordinary coastline, exceptional wine and food, and a wedding with almost nobody else around.
What to know before you commit: Ferries are limited (3-4) per day in summer, fewer out of season), and the last one back to Split leaves in the early evening — so guest logistics need planning around that. Accommodation is more limited than on Hvar or Brač, which means block-booking early matters. We've planned plenty of weddings here, and once the logistics are set up properly, they run as smoothly as anywhere.
If Vis doesn't quite fit: If you have a large group, older guests, or people arriving on tight flight schedules, Brač gives you a similar island feel with much easier access. For smaller weddings (under 30 guests) Vis is nearly always workable — it's only the bigger groups where we sometimes recommend a different island.
